Dear Friends in Christ,
Wow! What a weekend at First Independence United Methodist Church! I have never seen a bigger Potluck spread!
I am so grateful for all the ways in which you made our 190th celebration a day to remember forever. What a beautiful day filled with joy, stories, laughter, memories, and a deep sense of holy thankfulness.
Thank you to every person who prayed, planned, baked, served, and showed up with love in your heart. Together, we honored the past and proclaimed that God is still moving in and through this local congregation at Maple and Spring in Historic Independence, Missouri!
I want to encourage you to keep the joy going forward. My prayer is that we take it beyond our walls. If we have experienced God’s grace, if we believe this church is a place of hope, welcome, and transformation, then let's let the secret out of the bag! A simple invitation has the great potential to transform a life.
With our anniversary behind us, we now turn toward Advent. We're still three weeks out, but we should always be living in a season of expectation and holy preparation. We will begin Advent devotions on Monday nights starting on November 24 from 5pm-5:30p and a 4-week Advent study on Tuesday afternoons starting on November 25 @ 2 pm.
Thank you for being a church with history — and a church with a future.
Many blessings,
Pastor Angie
